Tysons Corner Center, Tysons Corner, Virginia, USA

Open since 1968, Tysons Corner Center was one of the first fully enclosed, climate-controlled shopping malls in the Washington, DC area. Its location on the Metro Silver line makes it easily accessible, and once inside, shoppers can find more than 250 stores, as well as restaurants and entertainment. 

Its anchor stores are Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s and Nordstrom, and luxury options include Gucci and Louis Vuitton. Restaurants range from full-service favourites like Seasons 52, Eddie V's and The Capital Grille to quick bites including California Pizza Kitchen, Laderach Chocolate Suisse and Capital Musubi. Throughout the year, The Plaza is home to special events like free movies, concerts and activities for kids.

Tysons Corner Center is open 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. Monday - Saturday, and 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. Sunday. Individual store and restaurant hours may vary.

Georgetown neighbourhood, Washington, DC

This historical neighbourhood and entertainment district is set along the Potomac River in Washington, DC. Founded in 1751, Georgetown is older than America itself, but don’t let that fool you. It’s home to some of the greatest modern shopping opportunities in the Capital Region.

Shops range from designer names to consignment stores, fitness apparel and even bridal boutiques. And sprinkled among the shops is a variety of restaurants serving every cuisine from American to Vietnamese.

To get to Georgetown by Metro, take the Blue or Orange line to the Foggy Bottom-GWU station for a 15-minute walk, or the Rosslyn station for a short walk across the Key Bridge.

Fashion Centre at Pentagon City, Arlington, Virginia, USA

This upscale shopping mall in the heart of the Capital Region near Washington, DC houses more than 160 stores and restaurants, including Macy’s, Apple, Nordstrom, Sephora and Sunglass Hut.

Its skylit food court features Chipotle Mexican Grill, Shake Shack and Starbucks, among other options, and shoppers love Fashion Centre at Pentagon City for its walkability and proximity to other nearby shopping centres, including Crystal City Shops.

Fashion Centre at Pentagon City is open 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. Monday - Thursday, 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. Friday - Saturday and 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Sunday. Take the Metro Yellow or Blue line to the Pentagon City stop, and exit left.

Arundel Mills, Hanover, Maryland, USA

This 1.6 million-square-foot shopping mall is Maryland’s largest outlet mall, offering dining and entertainment in addition to shopping. Popular stores at Arundel Mills include Banana Republic Factory, Helzberg Diamonds Outlet, LEGO Store, Saks OFF 5TH and Vineyard Vines. 

Sit-down dining options include 8 at Luk Fu Asian cuisine, Buffalo Wild Wings, The Cheesecake Factory and the Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament dinner show. And right next to the mall is the popular Maryland Live! Casino, open 24 hours a day and seven days a week.

Arundel Mills is open 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. Monday - Thursday, 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. Friday - Saturday and 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. Sunday. It is easily accessible from Washington, DC, Baltimore and Annapolis.

Queenstown Premium Outlets, Queenstown, Maryland, USA

Fans of Queenstown Premium Outlets rave about its variety of stores and great deals, as well as its food court. Located about an hour outside of Washington, DC on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, this outdoor shopping mall offers savings of up to 65 per cent at more than 40 designer and name-brand outlet stores, including Calvin Klein, Michael Kors, Nike and Polo Ralph Lauren. Grab a bite at Squisito Pizza & Pasta, Spanky's soul food or Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard, among others.
